Went down to West Palm Beach to watch the World Champion Washington Nationals play a couple of spring training games. And also do some touristy things in the area. Good time all around.
Day 1 – Saturday, Feb 22nd
Took a United flight into West Palm Beach International Airport. No delays. Rented a Toyota Corrola from Budget. Car had a bit of BO, but nothing terrible. Checked-in to a Courtyard by Marriott that was close to the stadium. It was nice, though nothing special.
Had dinner at https://www.belleandmaxwells.com/. Damn good casual dining. Had a nice outside dining area in the back of the restaurant. We had a salad with roasted pine nuts and artichoke hearts, and a flatbread pizza with goat cheese.
Next we went to the game. It was opening day of spring training, and the Nats were playing the infamous Astros. The Astros were in the news a lot in the off-season due to the news about their having cheated for the last few years. The fans booed them at every opportunity, justifiably. Matt Sherzher started the game. Canceled after the third inning due to rain. Got out money back.

Day 2 – Sunday, Feb 23nd
This was probably the best day. We drove down to Palm Beach and saw a good bit of Millionaires Row, including Trump’s place. Drove along the spectacular Ocean Boulevard. Next, we visited the fabulous https://www.flaglermuseum.us/. Learned a lot about the history of Flagler and Palm Beach.
After the museum, we drove down to Del Ray Beach. I guess it’s not terribly special, but it was nice to see the beach. Ate at https://tavernaopa.com/delray-beach. It was good, although our waiter was too busy. The grilled vegetables were really good. I had the Stuffed Peppers. Good.

Day 3 – Monday Feb 24th – More Baseball
When to the park earlier to see practice. Good move. Saw many of the National’s stars up close. Took pictures.

Game was a bit of a snooze fest. Lost 2-1.
Took pictures with the World Series trophy. and the Presidents!

Drove back to see Flagler’s famous hotel, The Breakers. Wow. Drove through Ocean Boulevard and A1A again.

Finally, we drove down to Lantana to eat at the famous http://oldkeylimehouse.com/. I thought it would be a tourist trap, but perhaps fun. Turned out to be really good, and also fun.
Day 4 – Back Home
Didn’t do anything. Slept late, dropped off the car, then to the airport. Should have booked an earlier flight, but no biggie.
