June 13th. I’ve topped most of them. A few are still too short. I topped them a lot this year, hopefully will make them easier to manage. I filled in a few empty spots with spares.
I also removed the bottom leaves on almost all of them. I think that will help air circulation, make it harder for bugs to climb up (I read that anyway), and just makes them look better. Fairly difficult job. Lots of bending over.
First bloom below. Would have had quite a few more by now, but topping wiped out a bunch.

June 3rd. Started topping. Topped approximately twenty or so that had reached around 18 inches in height. A number of them already had buds, it was a shame to cut them off.
Below is a very good video on how to top.
Potted the dahlias on April 5th. Put then in the garden area where I will plant them.
Hard to get a good count. But over 100. Next year, should put them out in neat rows so I can easily count.

Hard to bring them inside the garage once due to a freeze warning. Another night I covered them with a tarp.
The cold didn’t seem to bother them either time.
Must have come up, but not all. Roughly three weeks and roughly 2/3 have sprouted.
